Lord of All

Boyfriends, girlfriends, cell phones, internet, twitter, school, jobs these are all things that can take away from our time with God. Personally, I go through phases where I give all of my time to one or the other and very seldom I'll take the time to think or talk to God. It's kinda sad when you think about it. God does SO much for us and we can't even give him five minutes of our "special" time.
They say don't waste your time, and that is a very important thing to live by. But at the same time don't give too much of your time to things and forget about who actually controls your life. God is there and He always will be, but don't take that for granted. He is Lord of All meaning He wants all of us as His people.

Remember Your Vocab

Whether you have a wide range of vocabulary or just a small one, we choose the words that we let come out of our mouth. They can be used to either build up or break down. The biggest lie you can believe is that your words don't have power. Words mean so much, but at the same time so little these days. It depends on what words you put your trust in.
Negative uses of our vocabulary can be using profanity, gossiping and complaining. Can you not go a day without cursing? Do you always talk about other people and their business? Lastly, do you complain more than you rejoice? These are all questions to ask yourself. If you answered yes to two or all then you might want to consider practicing some self-discipline with your words.
Positive uses of our vocabulary is just the opposite. It's better to speak words of encouragement and honesty. The best rule to remember is to think before you speak. When you take the time to think about what's coming out of your mouth, there is more time for your conscience to respond.
All in all, words have power. We choose them and the words we choose show what kind of person we are. Others' perception of us is also strongly based off of what they have heard us say or not say. So remember your vocab.

Change The Channel..

I was sitting in my friend's dorm room and it hit me. I was hungry and had not yet eaten all day. Of course they decided to watch The Food Network channel. I demanded that they changed the channel, and then I instantly compared changing the channels on our television to changing channels in our lives.

Channels are somewhat like pathways. It is a flow of something; whatever we choose that flow to be. Like I said before, we have the power to change and motivate our own destinies and it is the same with our pathways or "channels." I know we all experience those moments in our lives when we feel like our day just couldn't get any worse. We might even ask God "Why me?" Truth is, God does not want to hurt us, but He does want us to learn how to endure and "change the channel."

You might wonder, "what or how do I change the channel in my life?" Simple. Change your thoughts and surroundings. If you dwell on one thing and how bad your life is at the moment, of course you're going to feel bad. Instead, think positive. Thank God for giving you life again and focus on the things that are going right. I mean you ARE breathing. Put your focus on the good and not the bad and trust God to help your situation. Change the channel.

Define Your Own Destiny

You have the power! Yes, you have the power to change your life. If you believe you do that is. Some don't realize this and end up going down paths that they never expected and at the end they say, "Well, it just happened. I couldn't have changed it." That is one of the biggest myths our culture chooses to believe. Some believe that life just happens and we just have to learn to cope with it. In reality, yes some things we cannot help and unexpected things happen, but we have the power.
We choose how we react to different situations and how to respond. Don't let people make you think that you have no control over what happens to you. Determine and define your destiny. What is it that drives you? Take it and run with it. Those who recognize that they have a purpose and strive to fulfill it are the ones that deem to be successful. No excuses, just hard work, determination and self-control.
